Raffia is a plant fiber derived from palm trees of the same name, which are abundant in certain regions of Madagascar. Harvested sustainably, it is then washed, dried, and dyed before being transformed into yarn ready for crocheting.
Supple, strong, and biodegradable, raffia is an ideal material for creating resistant, textured, and visually unique bags. Its naturally irregular appearance adds character to the pieces while ensuring their durability.

The heart of the work is crocheting: a demanding artisanal technique often passed down from mother to daughter. Unlike industrial weaving or sewing, raffia crocheting is done entirely by hand, without machines, and requires great precision.
Each bag requires several days of work, sometimes an entire week, depending on the complexity of the design. The movement is slow and rigorous. It cannot be improvised; it is mastered over time, through practice and a great deal of patience.

They benefit from health and retirement insurance, access to a bank account, and their children are educated for free thanks to our profits.
